Easy day out of Wanaka exploring rivers in the area. Weather wasn’t looking too promising with some clouds rolling in on the way to our first spot. Wind got too much at some point so we had to look for some more sheltered valleys. Nothing major to report on, but being out there is it was already
Some places flyfishing takes you are just breathtaking. We spent another couple of days in the Canterbury region, fishing around Mt.Cook area and a few rivers nearby. Spent the night camping at the million star resort with the riverfront access and mountain views. Life is good.

Pretty spontaneous little trip. After exchanging a few emails and messages with Desolve team and my friends from South Island New Zealand, we managed to come up with a rough itinerary. I stocked up my fly boxes, packed my bags and I was on the way to the airport, to board a plane, taking me to Queenstown.
Last stop in Japan – a beautiful city of Sapporo with its breweries and then an arranged visit to meet a legendary rod builder Yasuyuki of Kabuto Rods. I’ve been following an amazing craftsmanship of Kabuto rods for as long as I can remember myself and able to go and meet Yasuyuki
Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay than Streamcollect fishing lodge. Sato, being a chef himself, certainly knows how to cook up a feast. Some nights we would pop in to a local grocery store and get some local meats and cook izakaya
For the second part of the trip I took a flight from Tokyo to Sapporo and after a 6 hour drive all the way up to the northern Hokkaido I met up with Sato from Streamcollect. After having some local soba noodles for lunch, we then decided to check out a few rivers in the area and see if

Not much to report on the recent trips to my local rivers. It got hot pretty quick this year, and those couple of trips I had into the mountains I didn’t have much success. Still nice to be out and about, stroll along the running river and have a sandwich while watching platypus play in the pool.
