Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay than Streamcollect fishing lodge. Sato, being a chef himself, certainly knows how to cook up a feast. Some nights we would pop in to a local grocery store and get some local meats and cook izakaya back at the lodge with plenty of Japanese whiskey, gin or sake to complement the meal. Other nights, he would serve a five course dinner that would have something like soy tuna with ginger, surf clams, wagyu beef with fresh wasabi. Absolute heaven and I felt getting a royalty treatment here. Plus having quality stereo system with vinyl record collection, fireplace, flyfishing magazine and a flytying station in the lodge, seriously what else could you ask for. I’m already planning going back but this time on a mission to land a Japanese Taimen.
