Last trip of the river trout season in NSW. Decided to head down to the Snowy Mountains for couple of nights and explore some less crowded areas, while everyone is fishing Eucumbene for the spawn run. Weather has certainly cooled down and big fire at night is needed to stay warm. Winter night skies
Another Autumn’s day exploring some creeks and rivers in the Blue Mountains. Love this time of the year, when weather cools down, and midday sun feels soft and warm on the skin rather than burning hot. Some fish in the river can also be found feeding on small hatching mayflies or hot spot nymphs

Just playing around with some Upavon Double Decker foam to achieve various colorations of hoppers. Nothing too fancy, just a regular hopper pattern that I’m sure will work great in autumn months.
Tying a video of one of my favourite trout patterns for fishing in New Zealand. Many South Island rivers flow through grassy paddocks, where trout lie in wait for fallen insects—most often blowflies, which frequently end up on the water. Saturday arvo at the vice stocking up on some hot spot nymphs for late season. This time gold bead with orange or pink collar combos. Decided to use hare’s ear dubbing for the body on the orange collar combo, and black pheasant tail segments for the pink collar ones. Can’t really go wrong
Quick fly tying video of the PMX Stimulator fly, the way I tie it. I don’t use wire for the palmer hackle to make the fly more buoyant, and use lead wire to secure wing so it doesn’t get in the way while forming the parachute. More on this in the video. Have fun watching it.
