Hike into the Canterbury back country

Couple of months ago we setup for an overnight hike into the back country of the Canterbury region in South Island, NZ. First day – lots of rain and wind which was pretty good, when we got down to the valley, cause it also kept sandflies away. Day two was a proper summer’s day with clear skies, which made fishing a little bit trickier. Mostly rainbows on the smaller side with some browns mixed in between. Fish seemed to sit in the fairly fast water mostly eating tiny nymphs, therefore size 16 Pheasant Tail nymphs working quite well. Not a bad little trip in a gorgeous part of the world.
