Here’s my recent video that I shot over a few fishing days in Autumn last season in the Blue Mountains. Fishing was red hot, trout smashing grasshoppers with an eager and aggression most times. So I took my chances to capture some of the eats on film and it turned out pretty good I think. Please take a look and I hope you’ll enjoy the short film.
South Coast sambos
Catching a so called Australian Salmon wading the flats of the South Coast NSW has been on my list for a few years now. It’s not that easy to find an inlet or an estuary where they’re easily accessible within a cast of a fly rod. These fish tent to move up and down the beach or a river
Winter trout part 2
For the second winter hiking trip I decided to go to the same river I went couple weeks ago, but a bit further down stream to a more familiar access spot this time. The hike was much easier but also much longer too. Weather has been warming up for the last week or so, and it wasn’t clear if
Winter trout part 1
One might think that winter time is a down time for trout fishermen. But fortunately not for the really keen ones. After many years planning on going to this river and after some peoples advices for some access spots I tied some winter patterns, bought a new sleeping mattress and headed deep into
Winter prep sessions
Long winter nights mean more time to get your fly gear organized and top up your boxes with go-to patterns. Glass of whiskey goes hand in hand with these tying sessions too. This time I tied up some bright bead nymphs, glo-bugs and some squirmies which hopefully should trigger those spawners I’m
Winter lake fishing and camping
After a short break and a little bit of hibernation during winter months, especially after getting so cold on the last trip down to the Snowies, it was the time to head up to the Blue Mountains and try my luck on the lakes there. I decided to drive up on Saturday night, spend the night camping in
Eucumbene river – Take Two
Considering pretty reasonable success I had in my previous trip, I thought we’ll sneak another quick one in just before the season closes to get the last trout fix. Forecast was clear – heavy snow above 2000m. I thought we’re pretty okay with the rivers running through lower areas
A way overdue Snowies trip
It took way too long to do a trip to the Snowies after the last one which was way back in summer. This time the weather has changed drastically compared to the previous trip, night time temperatures dropping way below zero. I did some exploring around Blue Pool caves and Yarrangobilly area and some
Late Autumn hoppers
Haven’t posted on here for a while, so thought will do just a summary post of an incredible autumn hopper fishing we had in the Blue Mountains and Central West. So nice to be sitting inside now, listen to this rain fall, sip on a tea and remember late arvos on the river watching rainbows smashing
Stroll along the river with a good company
Had a couple of friends visiting Sydney recently, so we made a plan to go check out few places I normally fish in the Blue Mountains and just go for some random exploring. We had high expectations considering that fishing in Central West/Blue Mountains area has been red hot this year. The reality
