After coming back from the trip up North, I wanted to complete a NSW freshwater Grand Slam – to catch three different spieces within a week. The easiest to complete that was to do a quick trip up to the Blue Mountains to my well known spots and catch a trout as the third and last spieces of the Slam. Conditions were far from ideal. With recent rains most rivers were up and running brown so my chances looked pretty slim. I had to swap my usual dry-dropper rig to the much heavier indicator setup with a black nymph underneath and a trailing trusty squirmy worm. More shallower water where it was running bit cleaner seemed to be like the more logical spots to fish, so I tried to cover that as much as possible. It didn’t take that long until I finally got into a fish. Couple of quick pics and off she goes making my freshwater Grand Slam complete. Till next time.
