Couple months ago, I was browsing my phone when some kind of add popped up with Tasmania’s goverment covering the cost of ferry ride from Melbourne to Tasmania. That sounded way too tempting as I hadn’t been to Tassie before. So I arranged some leave from my work for couple of weeks over the Eastern break so that I would have enough time to drive down there and come back. The plan I came up was to drive to Victoria’s high country from Sydney in a day, set up a camp and spend Easter long weekend there exploring local rivers and just chilling by the campfire. I always loved area around Bright and fished Ovens river before. But this time I wanted to try something else and head further into the mountains. The plan worked quite well and I fished 3 rivers within a short drive from the camp. It was a strange time of a year, I think fish was already in this pre-spawn mood when is really hard to predict their feeding patterns. Nevertheless I managed to land plenty of browns mainly smashing big dries like hoppers or stimulators, so that ended up being heap of fun. Some pictures from that weekend are below.
