This time we decided to explore Wollondilly river and it’s tributaries. We have heard that even it’s way past its glory days it might hold a trout or two in winter months that move in to spawn. Weather was just perfect – clear skies and no wind whatsoever, so we left our cars with high expectations. After fishing couple of fast runs we moved to a slower water and realised that this is definitely not a trout territory.
After scanning water for a while we started noticing big dark shadows cruising around and enjoying warm winter weather. Carp. We had nothing to loose and decided to give a crack throwing some random wooly buggers we had in our fly boxes. It didn’t take long to entice them, and after we got a hang of the presentation and the retrieve we were into a bit of fun.
