Solo Grayling sessions

Back from the Scandinavian trip to motherland Lithuania, just couple days ago, I thought I’ll go check out my local river. I took a Euro nymph rig and a dry fly rod just in case. When I got to the spot I noticed a lot of fish rising so after nymphing one strech and catching couple of fish I read more

Sweden and Norway – Part 2

After a few days fishing the lake, it was time to move to a more remote part of Sweden, near the Sonfjallets National Park. It felt really nice to leave civilisation behind us and just enjoy peacefulness and quietness of the nature for a few nights. Around those days we really felt like Autumn is read more

Sweden and Norway – Part 1

After getting off the ferry then we drove for a whole day to reach our first destination – Alvdalen near Mora in Sweden. Spent couple of days just sitting by the fire, drinking, smoking cigars, foraging some mushroom and catching grayling. Can’t really ask for more. After that we relocated read more

New Zealand back country hike video

Last season we did a hike into NZ South Island’s back country to one of the most beautiful creeks I ever fished. Scenery is just ridiculous. Overnight stay at the hut with a fire, some whiskey and freshly caught and cooked trout was an absolute heaven. Head over to the youtube to watch full video.

End of season

NSW river trout season is closed now since last weekend and this is my recap of the trips I did in the last couple of months. Definitely not the numbers it used to be, but certainly there are still some good specimens to be found if you put the miles in and think outside the box. I focused on those read more

Back to Otago back country

After the rain stopped and rivers settled down, it didn’t take too long and we were back into Otago back country again. For the last session of the trip, that turned out to be one of the better ones. The usual story – bust offs, refusals, spooked fish but also quite a few to the net as read more

Sun’s out

Another walk along one of the lowland streams this time without too much success. Spooked a few fish, spend an hour casting at one that just kept ignoring flies until we finally gave up and decided to head home with a doughnut.

Lowland streams

With conditions still being pretty challenging up in the mountains, it was time to explore some lowland streams. More of a tactical, stealthy kind of fishing which can be pretty spectacular during afternoon hatches. Couple of photos for that arvo.
