A Pheasant Tail nymph
Saturday arvo at the vice stocking up on some hot spot nymphs for late season. This time gold bead with orange or pink collar combos. Decided to use hare’s ear dubbing for the body on the orange collar combo, and black pheasant tail segments for the pink collar ones. Can’t really go wrong
Quick fly tying video of the PMX Stimulator fly, the way I tie it. I don’t use wire for the palmer hackle to make the fly more buoyant, and use lead wire to secure wing so it doesn’t get in the way while forming the parachute. More on this in the video. Have fun watching it.
One last change of the region trying to find some pockets of blue skies in the cloud. Looks like it was a wise decision to check out one more spot and got rewarded with different species for the trip. This solid size rainbow smashing para Adams off the top was one heck of a show. Cant beat the scenery
Battling rain and looking for some fishable water on the West Coast, NZ. Couple of smaller size specimens one day, and then some larger fish the next one. Always pays off to wonder up the tributaries or check spots that you’d never expect to find fish. So take an extra mile, and you’ll
Couple of photos from the Christmas/NYE break trip to New Zealand’s South Island. This time decided to spend first part of the trip in Nelson area. Unfortunately with lots of rain we had to move around and come up with plans B and C quite a few times. Nevertheless there’s always some fishing
Beautiful and warm late afternoon nymphing session on Tumut river in the Snowy Mountains with Katka, Bec and Nathan. Yapping, laughing, sharing stories and catching a few rainbows in between. Good times.
Day 2 of Euro nymphing clinic with Katka Svagrova. More on leader setups, flies, tactics, tips and tricks down the rabbit hole we go. Invaluable experience for anyone who attended that opens up a whole new world of flyfishing.
Day 1 of Euro nymphing clinic ran by Katka and Boss Outdoor Canberra. Such a great event with an amazing group of people and invalueable experience and knowlege shared by Katka. Those who attended I’m sure have become better anglers on that day.
