After the rain stopped and rivers settled down, it didn’t take too long and we were back into Otago back country again. For the last session of the trip, that turned out to be one of the better ones. The usual story – bust offs, refusals, spooked fish but also quite a few to the net as well. Mostly rainbows but also one good size brown. Again the usual flies like blow fly, pheasant tail nymphs and this time biggest fish falling for a double bead stone fly. Sometime you just need to get it down deep enough and they’ll take it.
