Decided to check out this tidal creek near Sydney in a hope of catching a midsummer bass. Wasn’t too sure if they gonna be at that particular section of the system or they have moved up much more upstream into a brackish water. Super busy weekend, lots people swimming, kayaking, rock jumping. I was not expecting anything good to come out of this arvo session. Couple of dozens of casts later, I got a bite on a cicada pattern. Hmm, I thought – the bass must be on a roll. Few more casts and I was into one of these bad boys. Took couple of minutes to bring it closer and to realize that that was not bass at all. A really gorgeous and well conditioned bream with the scales reflecting light in all different colours and directions. Never thought bream would be taking flies off the surface in such an aggressive manner almost like bass does. Got couple more bream that afternoon with plentiful of strikes missed. That whole afternoon got me super excited and hooked onto catching more bream on the fly. Bring on the next session. Yay!
