Winter nymphs

Another session stocking up on heavy nymphs, to add to the previously tied glo-bugs and squirmies. Can be bought as fly packs now on my store. Bit of fun trying to figure out best way of tying those double bead stonies with added lead, how to feed the rubber legs and tie them in between the dubbing. read more

Spawn run and winter flies stock up

Spent a little bit of time stocking up on winter flies for the online store and my own fly box. Some of the patterns that can be successfully used during spawn run if you’re into it as well. Hot Tenting in the Snowies

After a little bit of fishing, it was time to change the area and head for the snow. Found myself a nice little spot amongst the eucalyptus treens and superb views of the lake. Couldn’t have made a better decision to come here. This time I setup my hot tent that I brought along with me, that read more

End of season

Last trip of the river trout season in NSW. Decided to head down to the Snowy Mountains for couple of nights and explore some less crowded areas, while everyone is fishing Eucumbene for the spawn run. Weather has certainly cooled down and big fire at night is needed to stay warm. Winter night skies read more

Love this time of the year, when weather cools down, and midday sun feels soft and warm on the skin rather than burning hot. Some fish in the river can also be found feeding on small hatching mayflies or hot spot nymphs read more

Hot Tenting in the Blue Mountains

Got myself this sweet little setup for colder months and decided to do a trip to the Blue Mountains to try it out. Also try and look for some trout as it’s been a while since I tried to find one in this area. I consider mission completed. Just in a couple of hours fishing managed to find a decent read more

Upavon Hoppers fly tying

Just playing around with some Upavon Double Decker foam to achieve various colorations of hoppers. Nothing too fancy, just a regular hopper pattern that I’m sure will work great in autumn months.

Parachute Blowfly flytying

Tying a video of one of my favourite trout patterns for fishing in New Zealand. Many South Island rivers flow through grassy paddocks, where trout lie in wait for fallen insects—most often blowflies, which frequently end up on the water. And this is exactly where you would use something like this. Enjoy watching!

A Pheasant Tail nymph

Back at the vise, and after scratching my head for a while I decided to go full on classic and tie a bunch of Pheasant Tail nymphs. For this I’m using read more
